By 2025, warehouse logistics is no longer just a link in the supply chain—it's the strategic core of business performance. The global warehousing and logistics industry is expected to exceed $1.17 trillion with more than 180,000 warehouses by the end of this year. The modern warehouse is no longer limited to storage: it anticipates, coordinates, and accelerates flows. Generative artificial intelligence makes logistics even more resilient; when coupled with LLM; it leverages data from the company's inventory. The use of AI reduces logistics costs by 15%, inventory costs by 35%, and improves services by 65%Speed, accuracy, and flexibility have become the three pillars of a resilient and profitable supply chain.

Effective management improves customer satisfaction and profitability, while poorly optimized logistics quickly leads to delays, additional costs, and a loss of competitiveness.

With over 37 years of experience, STAR Logistique supports companies in this transformation. Present in Switzerland and France, and expanding into Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom, as well as internationally, the company offers comprehensive solutions covering unloading, data entry, warehousing, order picking, packaging, and cross-dockingWhile the importance of strategically distributing warehouses has always been recognized as an optimization strategy, many e-commerce companies now also use lean warehousing or cross-docking to minimize costs and achieve even better results.

Warehouse Logistics in Figures

The global logistics market is undergoing rapid change, driven by automation and e-commerce. Furthermore, automation is growing at a rate of approximately 16% per year.Les entrepôts deviennent de véritables hubs technologiques, stratégiquement situés, où les systèmes connectés pilotent en temps réel les opérations.

Chez STAR Logistique, this evolution translates into concrete performance:

Our Key Services in Warehousing Logistics

Storage and Warehousing

Storage and warehousing do not meet the same needs: the former concerns short-term preservation, while the latter is part of a more comprehensive and sustainable management approach.

STAR Logistique has mastered both, with secure warehouses adapted to all types of products—from valuable goods to sensitive merchandise requiring refrigerated areas. Thanks to our Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), each product is tracked in real time, guaranteeing complete visibility and optimal use of space.

This digitalization requires investment and internal adaptation, but it represents a major lever for long-term efficiency.

Order Preparation

In a market dominated by e-commerce, the speed and reliability of order preparation are crucial. STAR Logistique applies proven methods (FIFO, FEFO, LIFO) and uses technologies such as Pick-by-Scan to minimize errors.

Automation is progressing, with the introduction of mobile robots and robotic arms that accelerate processing while ensuring consistent quality.

However, this modernization requires advanced technical skills and impeccable data quality to fully utilize these tools.

Packaging (Co-packing)

Packaging is a high-value service. It's the finishing touch that enhances your products before they reach the market.

STAR Logistique facilitates the ordering and packaging process.

Whether it's creating multipacks, assembling promotional displays (POS), bundling custom lots, or packaging valuable goods, STAR Logistics provides its expertise and equipment to meet the requirements of the food, cosmetics, FMCG, and luxury sectors..

Just-in-Time Storage and Cross-Docking

Today, more than 65% of European customers expect delivery in less than 48 hours. To meet this demand and remain competitive, many large e-commerce companies use short-term storage solutions and operate on a just-in-time basis, or the cross-docking method, i.e., eliminating the storage phase (or reducing it to less than 48 hours). Another possible solution, revealed as a result of the US-China trade conflict and the COVID pandemic, is the rise of "on-demand" storageusing on-demand warehouses to absorb peaks and seasonal needs. This last option is fully compatible with the other methods.

Just-in-time storage and cross-docking are similar in their operation, but there are some differences:

Just-in-time (JIT) storage

Goods arrive "just in time" for production or sale. The goal is to reduce unnecessary inventory and perfectly meet demand by aligning production, transportation, and sales. A 2022 study in the hospital sector suggests that just-in-time storage can reduce costs by between 10% and 17% annually, or between $3 million and $11 million per hospital per year.

Just-in-time storage, combined with other methods, including AI, could reduce unnecessary inventory by 30% to 40%. These include:

  • EOQ (Economic Order Quantity): Determines the optimal order quantity, a fair balance between orders and inventory..
  • SKU Rationalization: Analyzes the performance of each product reference and decides whether to keep, consolidate, or delete them. This method aims to reduce logistical complexity and lower warehousing costs, reduce unsold items, and focus on the best-performing products.

Cross-docking

Cross-docking involves transferring goods directly from the receiving dock to the shipping dock, without intermediate storage.

This approach, which is growing at an annual rate of 4.20% through 2030, drastically reduces lead times, handling costs, and space requirements, while increasing flow fluidity.

STAR Logistique is recognized for its expertise in this field, offering cross-docking solutions in Switzerland perfectly suited to import and national distribution needs.

However, such an organization requires perfect synchronization between suppliers, carriers, and on-site teams—expertise that STAR Logistique places at the heart of its approach.

Technology at the service of your supply chain

Digitization is now a key factor in logistics competitiveness. At STAR Logistique, technologies are integrated at every level of the chain to ensure transparency, performance, and security.

  • Connected WMS/TMS systems: integrated with client ERPs, they provide total visibility into inventory, customer service, shipments, and returns. The Internet of Things (IoT) enables predictive management and real-time tracking.
  • Data security: Cybersecurity is a top priority. Enhanced protocols ensure the protection of sensitive information at every stage of the process.
  • Dedicated customer portal: Our customers have a personalized space to track their flows, view their inventories, and manage their logistics operations independently.
